The Ross School gym was decked out as a lounge with plush sofas as “The Diva of Haiti,” Barbara Guillaume took the stage singing in jazzy Creole. The well-heeled crowd swayed enjoying quail eggs and grilled cheese washed down with fine champagne. Liev Schreiber, Fisher Stevens, and hosts Maria Bello and Mariska Hargitay shook hands and posed for photographs at this elegant fund-raiser brunch hosted by WeAdvance.org, GlobalDirt.org, and Plum Hamptons Magazine. “The Hamptons for Haiti Brunch” was dedicated to filling the enormous gap for medical aid, education, and other humanitarian causes for the people of Haiti.
Supporters of the event, cashmere mogul Christopher Fischer and Plum's editor in chief, Cristina Cuomo, attended, as did Donna Karan, looking chicly down to earth in her Urban Zen. When this reporter paid tribute to the designer, acknowledging some extraordinarily wearable pieces from 20 years ago, she suggested, jiggling beautiful bone bangles, “Get something new from Haiti.”
Later in the afternoon, the sun shone brightly on the marina at the Montauk Yacht Club, scene of the annual clambake hosted by Hamptons Magazine's Jason Binn. Casually clad and vaguely nautical, guests sipped cognac and summery cocktails awaiting the sumptuous lobster and shellfish extravaganza.
At Goose Creek, a private screening of Crazy, Stupid, Love, drew an assortment of viewers including Martha Plimpton, Bob Balaban, and Robert Wilson for the romantic comedy starring Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Julianne Moore, Kevin Bacon, Marisa Tomei, and Emma Stone. Introducing the screening, hosted by The Peggy Siegal Company, Peggy Siegal said she is harboring a crush on Gosling. Who can blame her?
Playing Jacob Palmer, Gosling steals the movie as a lothario who offers to teach the recently broken up, hopelessly straight Cal Weaver (Carell) the fine art of picking up women for casual sex. A scene where Ryan's Jacob changes course involving a girl he meets at a bar (the lovely Emma Stone) has him shirtless revealing a remarkable six-pack. Directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa with a script by Dan Fogelman, the film can be a corny illustration that love conquers all, but it offers some plot twists that make it perfect summer fare. Peggy Siegal was also celebrating her birthday. Everyone enjoyed a colorful cake designed by this party planner supreme's tennis pals complete with lush green court and sugary button faces cheering her on. But will somebody please fetch Ryan Gosling. She deserves this icing on the cake.
And as to desserts, I recommend the array offered at The Beachhouse on the highway in East Hampton. But don't miss the main dish: the crispy skinned roast chicken with carrot chunks is just divine.

~~~~~~~~~HO!!!With a sandbox, the borders are clearly defined, and the available resource (sand) is a known quantity. You'll probably build the coolest possible sand castle using as much space and sand possible.
Because you dont have to worry about spending money on decoration and such, you can afford to spend a bit more money on the food.
